ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor( rh-aFGF)and re-combinant human basic fibroblast growth factor( rh-bFGF)in the treatment of deep second degree burn. Methods:A multicenter,pro-spective,randomized and double-blind clinical trial was conducted. Totally 216 cases of deep second degree burn were selected from five research centers and given appropriate antibiotics and nutritional supplement therapy. The wound of 108 cases in the observation group were rinsing with rh-aFGF(one bottle / 5cm2)according to the wound area at the time of admission followed by rh-aFGF daily spraying,3-4 press/cm2 ,6-8 times a day. The 108 patients in the control group were treated with rh-bFGF with the same regimen as the observation group. After the 30-day follow-up,the wound healing was evaluated in the two groups. Results:The complete healing time, debridement time, complete healing rate in 12 days and 15 days in the observation group were all better than those in the control group(P<0. 05). After the 7-day treatment, the level of leukocyte and seepage score of the observation group were both lower than those of the control group(P<0. 01). The moderate rate showed significant difference between the two groups(P<0. 05). Conclu-sion:rh-aFGF shows better clinical efficacy than rh-bFGF in the treatment of deep second degree burn with the similar safety.

ABSTRACT

Zebrafish is a relatively new and booming vertebrate animal model.Over the past three decades, ze-brafish has been applied in various aspects of life science, as well as health sciences, environmental studies and aquacul-ture research. To meet the requirement for different research purposes, large amounts of zebrafish resources, including mu-tant and transgenic lines, have been developed with different techniques. All of these resources need well and careful col-lection and maintenance, therefore several zebrafish resource facilities have been built worldwide. As one of them, the Chi-na Zebrafish Resource Center (CZRC, http://zfish.cn) was founded in 2012.This review is trying to introduce the devel-opment and maintenance of zebrafish scientific resources, and the updated progress of CZRC.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and risk factors of type 2 diabetes with cerebral infarction in senile patients. Method 52 patients with type2 diabetes and cerebral infarction(group A), 62 cases with-out diabetes mellitus(group B)were enrolled in this study. Waist circle(Wc), body mass index(BMI), blood pressure, blood fat, blood glucose(BG), glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1C), fasting insulin, leptin and adiponectin were determined in each group. Results Recurrent, multi - focal and large-area infarcts were more common in group A than in group B, and levels of systolic blood pressure (SBP), DBP, PBG, FINS, TG, LDL-C and apoB100 were increased, while levels of adi-ponectin were decreased and high density lipopretein(HDL) and apolipoproteinA1 (apoA1) were increased in group A (P<0. 05). Conclusion Recurrent, multi-focal and huge area infarcts are more common in group A. Cerebral infarc-tion patients with diabetes mellitus than non-diabetic group with a high mortality rate, characterized by high disability.

ABSTRACT

Objective To develop medical equipment suited for medical care. Methods The secondary auxiliary wings were added inside the original intravenous infusion dressing clips on the left and right, and then a new stereo magnetic infusion dressing came into being with the medical 3M sticking membrane and glutinous magnetic woundplast. Results The Stereo Magnetic Intravenous Infusion Dressing was gifted with the functions of observing, supporting, and fixing the sting area. The model successfully passed the animal experiments. Conclusion The new stereo magnetic infusion dressing, easy to use,can satisfy the requirements of medical care.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo study the antagonism of Zn-metallothionein (Zn-MT) to oxidative stress of rats with severe scalding after delayed resuscitation.

METHODS27 Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: normal control; burn with delayed fluid resuscitation group; and Zn-MT protected group. The rats were scalded with 30% total body surface area (TBSA) third degree burn. Four hours after injury, they were resuscitated, but Zn-MT (1 x 10(-5) mol/L) was given in the third group rats. 24 hours after they were scalded, blood was taken, RBCs were separated and labeled with electron spin resonance (ESR) spin label 3-maleimido-proxy l to detect membrane protein conformation. The serum was collected and added into the reaction system of xanthine, xanthine oxidase and ESR spin trap 5, 5-dimethylpyroline-N-oxide to assay the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) by ESR.

RESULTSThe ratios of strong solidity and weak solidity of RBC membrane proteins in the three groups were 0.352 +/- 0.043, 0.409 +/- 0.027, and 0.386 +/- 0.062 respectively, and the revolved times of membrane proteins were 1.300 +/- 0.210, 1.576 +/- 0.190 and 1.381 +/- 0.210 seconds respectively. Compared to the first group, the membrane protein conformation in the second group was changed remarkably, and the speed of membrane protein movement decreased significantly. However, those changes were alleviated obviously by Zn-MT. The SOD levels in serum of the three groups rats were 73.2% +/- 1.4%, 48.8% +/- 3.8% and 66.8% +/- 3.2% respectively. Compared to the normal control group, the SOD levels in serum of the second group decreased obviously. However, an excess of oxygen free radicals produced after injury could be scavenged by Zn-MT.

CONCLUSIONRBC membrane proteins of rats with severe scalding after delayed resuscitation were injured by oxygen free radicals produced after injury, and Zn-MT could alleviate this injury.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo explore the influence of glutamine dipeptide on the plasma endotoxin levels in severely burned patients.

METHODSThirty burned patients with TBSA of 30 - 70% and III degree burn area more than 20% were randomly divided into control (C) and study (S) groups. Glutamine dipeptide powder in dose of 0.5 g/kg/day was given orally in bolus to those patients in S group during 1 - 12 postburn days (PBDs). The plasma levels of glutamine were determined during 1 - 12 PBDs. Simultaneously, the plasma endotoxin level was detected on 1, 3, 6 and 12 PBDs. The wound healing rate at 30 PBD and total hospital stay days were recorded.

RESULTSThe plasma glutamine levels at 1 PBD in C and S groups were obviously lower than normal level (659.5 +/- 35 micromol/L), but there was no difference between these two groups (P > 0.05). The plasma glutamine levels in C group was much lower than that in S group at 12 PBD (P < 0.05). The plasma endotoxin concentration on 1 PBD in these two groups increased evidently compared with the normal value (P < 0.05), and there was no difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). The plasma endotoxin level in S group was much lower than that in C group on 3 PBD (P < 0.05). As for the wound healing rate at 30 PBD, it was markedly higher in S group than that in C group (91% vs 85%). On the other hand, the hospital stay days in S group were evidently lower than that in C group (52 vs 67).

CONCLUSIONOral intake of glutamine dipeptide in burn patients could be beneficial to the maintenance of the plasma concentration of glutamine and in decreasing plasma endotoxin level. It would also enhance the wound healing rate at 30 PBD and shorten the hospital stay days.
